Thinking I’ll be great,

But can I carry the weight?

So I look inwards,

It doesn’t match that’s outwards,

So I make an intention,

For rectification,

I must follow the way of the Noble Ṣaḥābaħ,¹

As they called “Yā Muḥammadāh”² in the Battle of Yamāmaħ,

I call Yā Muḥammadāh!

Yā Mumajjadāh!³

You told us that your life was good for us,

And so was your death,

For indeed after you passed,

You’d be shown our deeds,

And as the One who will intercede,

If they were praiseworthy you’d praise,

And if they weren’t you’d ask for forgiveness,

So in my dark heedlessness,

And my constant Sinning, Yā Nabīyy!⁴

Seek forgiveness for me,

For indeed your supplication is guaranteed,

I believe you’re living in the grave,

And waiting to save,

Those who will be plummeted into An-Nār,⁵

So if I ever end in there,

Will you seek for me and save me?

Like the gourd that you’d search for,

My people call it Kaddu Sharif,⁶

Funny how I’m called Kaddu,

So will I be one of those dipped for?

I hope for your intercession,

For indeed it is because of you I am Muslim,

So I am indebted to you Yā Rasūlallāh,⁷

I wish I came make it up to you,

By following your way.
