A Call Back Home – A Poem by Faizan Al-Karachi Al-Maddāḥ

A secret unearthed,

A voice unheard,

From evil I deterred,

Purification starts from within,

Ablution from sin,

Remove this rust from my heart,

And allow me to have a brand new start,

For too long have I been heedless,

Nights were restless,

But You kept me up to call unto You,

A foolish man,

I didn’t see the Truth,

So I yearn to be close to You and Your Rasūl,

A love so sweet I’ve been touched by,

It grows by time,

And I hope it doesn’t die,

So I light it up with mentions of Your Name,

Hoping for a fame,

Not of this world,

For you will be hurled,

Into the Beastly Fire,

By following your desires,

So listen to the whispering of the dawn,

Instead of being asleep, a yawn,

Awaken heedless soul,

It is the call back home.
