The Veiling of God

ʾIbn ʿAṭāʾillāh قدس الله سره said:
“How is it conceivable that a thing veils Him whilst He is the One who manifests everything? How is it conceivable that a thing veils Him whilst He is the One manifested through everything? How is it conceivable that a thing veils Him whilst He is the One manifested in everything? How is it conceivable that a thing veils Him whilst He is the One manifested for everything? How is it conceivable that a thing veils Him whilst He was Manifested before the existence of everything? How is it conceivable that a thing veils Him whilst He is more manifest than everything? How is it conceivable that a thing veils Him whilst He is the One, the One whom there is nothing with? How is it conceivable that a thing veils Him whilst He is closer to you than everything? How is it conceivable that a thing veils Him whilst if it were not for Him, the existence of everything would not be? How is existence manifested in non-existence? Or how is the contingent with the One who is attributed with pre-eternality?”

I (Al-Ḵaṭīb Al-Wazīrīyy قدس الله سره) say:
“He manifested all things, and innovated it. And for guidance to His Perfection, He invented it. So why is it that you are veiled? None perceive it like that except those who have deviated from the correct path. He is manifested, free from defects be He, through His innovated beings. He hides from the minds His Essence for it is the Treasure (kanz) that none knows, and the Meaning (maʿnā) that none is attributed. If it weren’t for His Creation, none would be guided to Him. So nothing from it becomes a veil from Him. The Presence of His Names and Attributes are manifested in everything from existence and His People of Distinction. For He is Manifest in every thing. So not a thing veils Him whilst He is hidden from everything for not a thing knows Him.

It appears through veiling, and concealed through manifestations,
Upon the dye of colouring in every prominent manifestation,

The attribution of the Manifest with it for Him is eternal and perpetual for a thing does not veil Him in a single length of time. He is more manifest than everything because He is the Essence of existence and every witnessed object is appointed.
And the One who this is His attribution, then His Unveiling (kašf) is not veiled from minds. He was Allāh whilst nothing was with Him, and He is now like that so rid yourself from the pitch-black night of your delusive imagination. There is nothing in reality except the One. Everything that benefits from existence then it is non-existent in the essence of the witnesser. How can a veil be placed with what is phantomly self? The Truth encompasses your atoms and accidents, and knows your secrets and aims. He is closer to you than anything close so how is He veiled from you? What is that but amazement?
How is the Lord veiled from the fief? Whoever delusively imagines Him like that is veiled. If it weren’t for the attention of concern like towards that which is possible, it would not be saved from non-existence. If it weren’t for His Resplendence those who are in pitch-black darkness would not be saved, so free from defects be the one who has clothed it with clothes from the presence of existence! If it weren’t for Him, it would not appear to the essence of witnessing. How is he veiled through it whilst it is His creations? How does it not point to Him whilst it is His innovations? Exalted be the Presence of His Essence from manifesting in His creations. There is no manifestation for existence in non-existence. There is no existence for contingent-objects with pre-eternality. The Šayḵ achieved the pinnacle of achievement, bringing forth what is commendable in action and delightful to the ears. So oh what a wise teacher and knowing gnostic is he!
